The book contains fifteen articles written by European scholars concerned with different aspects of the Civil War in Greece in the period after the Second World War. Topics such as politics, economy, the situation of the population and other countries' reactions on the situation in Greece are discussed and interpreted here.
The work was first presented at a conference held in August 1984 by the Department of Modern Greek and Balkan Studies at the University of Copenhagen. This conference could be seen as a continuation of the international conference on the Greek resistance movement (1936-1944) held in Athens earlier the same year.
