In this book a number of internationally recognized experts explore the long experience in the French-speaking world of encounters between languages and cultures due to migration.
Through analyses of language use and various artistic forms of expression, the articles present answers to a number of contemporary questions relating to the interaction of culture, language and history.
The articles represent the geo-cultural spread of the French-speaking world on the one hand and a wide range of approaches to the study of the fields of sociolinguistics, postcolonialism, literature, sociology, and film analysis on the other.
The book illustrates historical, linguistic and cultural subjects and it presents various artistic means of expression: literature, film, and strip cartoons.
