Summary: The Exempla diversorum auctorum are among the rare testimonies of some verses of the Epigrams attributed to Seneca, preserved in the Codex Voss. Lat. Q. 86. The addition CATŁ which is sometimes found in the manuscript of the Exempla, provides metrical information. It means ‘pentameter’ and therefore does not indicate the source. The ‘Senecan’ verses are unknown to Micon of St. Riquier and to the so-called Codex Thuaneus. Significant similarities and discrepancies point to a manuscript of the Epigrams respectively the Anthologia Vossiana, that has strong relations with but is not identical to the Voss. Lat.
Q. 86.
